What went wrong

Obviously, the Unofficial Eye of Judgement Legends Community hasn’t been updated for quite some time. Well, what happened?

First of all, the Eye of Judgment Legends PSP game is fantastic. It’s up there as one of the finest CCGs I’ve played as well as one of my favorite games this year.

Frankly, the support for the release was horrible. We got a couple of Playstation.Blog posts, maybe one or two mentions on the Playstation Twitter account, and that was it. No other marketing, no online buys, etc.

For the PS3 release, the SCEA team worked with some communities to provide card artwork that websites could use. This wasn’t the base for the PSP release. In fact, I haven’t heard back from several SCEA contacts about anything for the Eye of Judgment Legends.

In any case, I hope those who picked it up at release are still playing. It’s a damn fine game. It’s just unfortunate that it wasn’t what it could have been.

Sweet! The Eye of Judgment Legends – Expansion Pack #2 is out for North America today! Another set of five cards for $1.99. Don’t have any details, but I’ll make sure to post about the cards when I’m able to download the pack later today.

Tournament Event #3

The official tournament event three details are up. Again, I have a page in the top nav that will always have the current tournament details. For the third official tournament, it will be starting on April 9th and ending on April 19th. The restriction is that your deck is limited to only 50 mana; I predict a lot of transforming cards being played :) . The time limit is also changed from previous tournaments, with turn limits being at two minutes.

Good luck!

9999

What does ‘9999′ mean? Well, in the Eye of Judgment Legends case, it’s the top amount of points a player can win in a ranked play playlist. Maybe Sony thought that this game wouldn’t be so popular… or that the EoJ community wasn’t so rabid (clearly, we are) or even it was a technical limitation, but there now stands two people (Player IDs Nicofisa and mutoking) with 9999 points on the single duel ranked leaderboard. The Best of Three ranked leaderboard only has one individual with +1000 points.

So what is there to do or say about this? Well, not much. It seems as if a change to this kind of point system / maximum points allowed isn’t really technically possible.

So good luck to all players who are playing in single duel ranked games; at least we can look forward to hitting 9999 then just going for tournament wins :)

First Expansion – Master Pack – Is Out (for EU & NA)

The first Eye of Judgment Legends expansion pack is now available for those in the UK & US. The five cards that are included are:

  • Child of Mourning – a rare fire demon
  • Child of Okunada – a rare water character of the Merfolk race
  • Hanzo the Leader – an ultra rare character from the Betrayer race
  • Bash-ido Goblin – a common wood goblin
  • Magical Interdiction – a powerful ultra rare spell

This pack is out now with the UK’s Playstation Store update. For us U.S. PSN Store users, we’ll have to wait until the store updates (anywhere from 3 – 6 PST).

The pack costs £1.19. There isn’t a set price yet for the USD but I’m thinking it’ll be $1.99.

PS3-Planet has some details on the stats for the cards.

*EDIT* The US Store did not receive the Master Pack today. So maybe in a week?

*DOUBE EDIT* It’s out on the NA Store as of April 1. Go get it! It’s $1.99.

Tournament Event #2

Tournament Event #1 ended early this morning with the top 9 players on the leaderboard maxing out at 9999 points. Looking at the leaderboard, the top 10 have little crowns next to their name now… that seems to be the only thing to really happen from the tournament. Not sure if they get a special title or icon or anything.

The official tournament event two details are up. Again, I have a page in the top nav that will always have the current tournament details. For the second official tournament, it will be starting on March 26th and ending on April 5. There will be no card restrictions, either… so it’ll essentially be like playing ranked matches.

The Wizard’s Card

If you’re like me, you constantly look at your Wizard Card to see if you’re unlocking anything new. For reference, here is the Wizard’s Card from one of my recent ranked play opponents:

Sorry for the blurry pic, but it’s the best I can do. So, as you can see, this particular player has every single medal unlocked (and, consequently, wiped the floor with my poor Wood deck). I personally only have three medals unlocked. The unfortunate thing is: the game doesn’t state how you unlock these medals.

Does anyone know by chance how to unlock these medals? I’m thinking of putting together a page with medal unlock requirements because I haven’t spotted one yet. I do know that I got a medal by playing through the Prologue of the story… I also unlocked one when I was doing some gold farming via Wizard Duels. I also unlocked one when I tallied three rank play wins.

In any case, if you know how you unlocked a medal, drop a comment so I can start putting together a list. Thanks!

Tino’s Law of Heaven

Was playing a ranked game this morning and came across an opponent who used something called Tinos Law of Heaven. I’m not quite sure what it specifically does, but it seemed as if it was adding attack power for his creatures and possibly even decreasing attack power for mine. It also made one of his fire creatures have perfect dodge.

The weird thing is – I was unable to look at any of the card data for creatures on the board to tell me what this was!

I checked the usual spots (EOJ Manager, other EoJ sites out there) and couldn’t find any data for the card or spell or whatever it was.

The only thing I did find is that people that purchase the game on PSN on the Asia PSN store receive this card:

I also checked out the player’s wizard card and he had every title available and was 5 – 0 in ranked play. In any case, I think this card might be a potential game changer… if only I could find information as to what it actually is!

Anyone have any insight as to what this card does?

*Edit* Found some information! Over at GameFAQs, no less. The user akwan_tarot stated:

Isn’t this such a wonderful card? Library search every turn at the cost of a 0-cost sorcery. You can use this to fish for ultra-rares, combo cards, counter cards, a big or small creature as you need, or anything else. It is very difficult to imagine not winning if your opponent doesn’t take out your target creature promptly.

So it’s cast on a target creature! Guess I didn’t search hard enough to see this. Interesting card, though… and definitely one I would use if I had the chance to!

Official and Unofficial Tournaments

After spending some time with the retail release of the Eye of Judgment Legends, it would appear that official tournaments will be a big focal point for online play. In fact, the first official tournament is currently underway! I’ve created a page that I’ll be updating whenever a new tournament is in progress here. Details for this first official tournament:

Time Frame

March 11 7PM PST – March 18 1AM PST.

Restrictions

Ultra Rare cards are restricted from this first tournament.

Along with the official tournaments, the folks over at LBShooters have a great core of individuals who both play in leagues as well as tournament play. Go take a look!
